370, SS. GROUP OF ARROWS
A group of 20 'footed' arrows of 'chested' pattern, i.e. the 'footed' shaft tapers from the
commencement of the 'foot' to the 'pile'
L. of the arrows, 70.5 cents. (the variation in length of these arrows is very slight).
They are made as follows: -
Tapered hard wood 'foot' with tang
'Pile' of blue glass connected to end of 'foot'.
diam. 0.65 cents.
(Note the glass takes place of flint on earlier arrows.)
Parallel reed shaft 46.9 cents long (average diam. 0.75 cents)
three feathers 7.5 cents long.
bound with narrow strips of hide and coloured
Tanged 'nock' of hard wood.
