Ornament: 'palmate' bark, green leather and gold-foil;
'capitulum' bark; end of stock including knob bark & gold. In all
three cases the ornamentation has been enhanced by coating of a
red material (see 596, d).

The palmates of these fans have always two pieces of wood of
pliable nature to hold the feathers in place.
