388 TABLE-SHAPED-BOX

POSITION:
Lying on side under a mass of objects E. centre of chamber (see
photos 1137, 1138, 1139, and 1140). The lid 537 was found lying
under it.
DIMENSIONS:
H. 68.0; W. 43.5 x 40.0; cents. Depth of box (interior) 18.5
cents; exterior 19.5 cents.

DESCRIPTION:
A table-shaped box, made up of, ebony & conifer wood, ornamented
between stretchers and base of box with fretwork of gilt <> and
ebony <> symbols.
The corner uprights of the box form also four attenuated legs
upon which the piece of furniture stands.
Gilt knobs in front & on central rail of lid bearing the
cartouche of the king. The central rail of lid bears the
following names and titles, incised and filled in with yellowish
pigment: -

Upon one of the panels of the lid is a hieratic docket (see
photo).
The lid is fastened by means of two bronze hinges.
Had originally a partition dividing the interior of the box in
half.
