DESCRIPTION:
A recumbent figure of the Jackal Anubis, carved of wood,
thinly coated with gesso, and painted black.
The pectination of the interior of the ears, the collar, and
the scarf, gilt.
The eyes and eye-brows inlaid with gold, the eye-balls of
calcite, the pupils of obsidian; the corners of the eye-balls
slightly tinged red.
The toe-nails of silver, blackened by corrosion.
The legs and feet of the jackal are pegged to a flat board,
gilt, measuring 91.5 x 25.0, cms; this board slides on to the
top of the pylonic shrine, to which it acts as a lid.

Between the fore-paws was an ivory palette (see 262).
