Sandal of leather sole being of raw hide, now reduced to a black resinous mass. At S.E. corner of box. R. foot. L. 30.5 cm.; W. at heel 8 cm., at instep 7.5, at widest 9.5. At 5mm from edge all round double row of flat gold wire 2mm. wide, sewn into sole thus <>. Outside this, at intervals of 2 - 2.5cm. tiny gold hollow bosses 3mm. in diam. They were attached to the leather by means of loops soldered to their under sides. At point of toe a larger boss 7mm. in diam. Similar one at toe, inside wire. Toe thong a round stick, covered with leather(?) and ornamented at close interval with the same layer gold bosses. Binding and buckle see notes on pair.(i)
