35.Lion Couch.

1.Position In N.W. corner of tomb. In situ.

Bed Max. l. 181: w. 91.5 Max. height of foot panel 43: Min. do 42.8 Thickness of frame 4: w. of frame 12.

Square frame-work of heavy timber, covered with gesso, overlaid with gold, curved to receive occupant. Within imitation mesh, also covered with gesso and gold.

Foot-panel. Ornamentation comprises three inset panels, containing dads and sas. In centre of the two dividing stiles two papyrus stems, one from top, curving over rim, and running 9 down back, one from bottom, their heads meeting in centre.
