Handlist description: Chair of ebony and papyrus

Card/Transcription No.: 082-1

82. A CHAIR OF EBONY AND PAPYRUS

POSITION: Placed on top of objects that were piled on the Hathor couch (No. 73).

A chair of ebony framework, bound and upholstered with strips and sheets of papyrus, with seat comprising an open linen-thread web. The chair is of exceptionally good workmanship, but since its ebony framework was held together solely by means of papyrus, by which it was bound, it could never have withstood any great strain, and therefore, was probably only intended for sepulchral purpose.
