1. Position S end of chamber: in front of mannequin: under chariot 120. Lid supplied by No 111.

2. Dimensions Overall 52.2 x 27 x 30.5 with lid. Details see next card.

3. Description Wood sycomore-fig(?) Covered entirely on outside with yellow paint, on inside with black. Sides and ends dovetail together. Very irregularly made, torus moulding at one end being at lower level than at the other.

The box was made to fit some particular object, see arrangement of bottom. ? was it a wig box.

This was the outer case of alabaster box 40.
