the prenomen and nomen of the king, and holding the <> symbols in its claws. The hawk rests upon (tail) the <>-symbol, and wings the <> devices.

Between the four legs, stretchers and seat, (on the four sides), in open wood-work is the traditional device "The binding of the Two Kingdoms under one monarchy".

The feet are capped with copper and bronze.

One of the feet had been broken off - this foot had been formerly found in the Antechamber under No. 149.

Though the chair had been cast on top of a mass of other furniture, and considering the precarious position in which it was left, it had suffered very little harm.

The carving (under the thick coat of white paint) is of very good quality.
