370, HH. STAVE OF BOW. (in bad condition)

A Compound bow of similar construction as 370, FF; the covering of bark of a dark red brown cherry-like type; the grip with narrow transverse strips. End of one 'limb' broken off. Estimated length (from horn to horn) 116 cents; W. at centre 2.2 cents. String at centre from 'belly' only 5.5 cents. (Note possibility of warping). The bark covering ornamented as follows: - Grip strips of bark mentioned above; band around stave either side of grip of geometric pattern of veneered bark; near centre of upper and lower limbs the cartouche of King; ends of limb near horns band of geometric pattern of veneered barks; on 'back' of limbs between grip and central bands a long geometric pattern <> within an oblong.
