370, NN. GROUP OF ARROWS 91.5

A group of 30 'footed' arrows of (slightly) 'chested' pattern, i.e. the 'footed' shaft tapers from beginning of 'foot' to 'pile' or point. The length of these arrows varies from 80.5 to 91.5; the average 86.5 cents. They are made as follows: -

<> 1 2 3 Tanged 'pile' of bronze Max. diam. 1.1 cents 2 cents

Tapered and tanged hard wood foot 10 cents. Max. diam. 0.8 cents. bound with narrow strips of hide ornamented with colours

Parallel shaft of reed 83.5 cents. long; average diam. 0.8 cents; four feathers 18. cents. L. <> bound with narrow strips of hide ornamented with colours. bound with narrow strips of hide and ornamented with colours.

tanged 'nock' of hard wood, or ebony or ivory. <> varying from 1.0 to 2.5 cents long (exclusive of tang).
