370, OO. GROUP OF ARROWS

A group of 9 'footed' arrows of (slightly) 'chested' pattern, i.e. the 'footed' shaft tapers from the beginning of the foot to 'pile' or point. The length of these arrows is uniform: 87.0 cents. They are made as follows: -

tanged 'pile' of ivory <> 1.8

tapered and tanged hard wood 'foot' <> 16.7 max. diam. 0.75 cents.

Parallel shaft of reed 67.0 cents long; average diam. 0.75 cents. Four feathers 17. cents. long. <> bound with narrow strips of hide ornamented with colours

tanged 'nock' of ebony <> 1.5
