370, QQ. GROUP OF ARROWS

A group of 18 'footed' arrows of 'chested' pattern, i.e. the 'footed' shaft tapers from commencement of 'foot' to 'pile' or point. L. of arrows varies from 81.5 to 88.8 cents. (They average 84.5 cents). They are made as follows: -

Tapered and tanged hard wood foot <> 'Pile' the pointed end of foot. 19 cents diam. 0.7 cents.

Parallel reed shaft 68.8 cents. long with average diam. of 0.7 cents. Four feathers 17.0 cents long. <> bound with narrow strips of hide ornamented with colours.
