374. AN ARYBALLOS (SERPENTINE)

POSITION: Thrown onto a mass of objects below threshold of doorway (left hand side) of chamber (see photo 1136)

DIMENSIONS: Max. H. 22.3, cents.

DESCRIPTION: A vase of aryballos shape wrought in serpentine

REMARKS: Contents robbed - very slight residue on bottom. Lip badly broken - evidence of ancient repairs. Parts of the pith and linen binding were round neck. (It is interesting to note that this is the only specimen wrought in serpentine - a class of stone so common in the earlier Eighteenth Dynasty royal tombs).
