487. BOX (? for Cubic Measure). 1

POSITION: - Among miscellanea near centre of E. wall of chamber (see photo 1142).

DIMENSIONS: - Max. H. 65.0; W. 4.7 x 5.6, cents.

DESCRIPTION: - A tall and Narrow box, in the form of (much attenuated) shrine, of wood painted white. The back and two sides are cut out of one piece of wood thus:

The interior hollowed out semi-circular to receive possibly a standard measure of metal which has been taken by the tomb-plunderers.

The foot is in the shape of a sledge, the top the entablature of a shrine thus:

In the bottom of the box is a circular hole. The box is closed by means of a swinging door. Two sides are inscribed and also the door. See texts attached.
