512. WOODEN KIOSK CONTAINING SHAWABTI-FIGURES

POSITION: Leaning in precarious position against (centre) W. wall of chamber, where it had been thrown by the dynastic plunderers (see photo No. 1144).

DIMENSIONS:

DESCRIPTION: Wooden kiosk upon sledge, of rough workmanship, covered with black resin roof (lid) made of one piece of wood, knob on front of roof (lid) and front of kiosk for cord and seal - only traces of the cord and seal remain.

CONTENTS: 20 wooden gesso-gilt shawabti-figures (see Nos. 512 A-E), and 98. copper miniature agricultural implements (No. 512 F).

Note: It is noticeable that the copper of the implements is always in better condition (preservation) when with gilt figures only. The gesso-gilt figures have suffered from infrequent saturation.
