550 WOODEN BOX

POSITION:    
Thrown on the top of boxes Nos. 551 and 547 at northern end of 
chamber (see photos 1146, 1147). Lid found separate (see No.
546).
DIMENSIONS:  
L. 65.0; W. 57.5; H. 54.5; cents.

DESCRIPTION: 
A plain wooden box, resting upon four short rectangular legs,
with rails and stiles veneered with ebony. The central ebony
stile of lid inscribed with names and titles of the King. The
knobs, of wood gesso-gilt, also bear the King's cartouches.

It was empty, its contents removed and scattered in the
chamber, only a ritualistic sickle (No. 561), which probably
did not belong to it, was found in it.
Two of its legs were broken off.
