The scenes upon the side and back panels represent scampering
animals - bulls, bull-calves, and ibexes - which, in some
instances, are being attacked by a lion, a cheetah, a leopard, and
hounds. The background to these animal motifs is filled in with
similar conventional flora like the fowling scene upon the front
panel, described above.
But the chief glory of this casket is the ivory panel upon the lid,
carved in delicate low relief like a Green coin. Here, the royal
couple are represented in a pavilion bedecked with festoons of
flowers, and the vine. The king, leaning slightly on his walking-staff, accepts bouquets from his charming consort who is attired
