575. LID OF BOX (SEE BOX No. 594)

POSITION: N.E. corner of chamber, behind wine-jar No. 549 - (see photo 1148).

DIMENSIONS: L. 29.3; W. 26.0 cents.

DESCRIPTION: Lid of Box (No. 594); frame-work of ebony; panels of a dark red-wood; bordered with strips of ivory and ebony; sides inlaid with ivory; one of the panels bears a hieratic docket of three lines (see photo). On front end of central slat an ivory knob. The lid is of hollow construction and has battens at either end to fit with corresponding slots in the interior of its box.

REMARKS: Note position of box 594 and this lid 575. One of the panels not waxed on account of the hieratic docket it bears.
