Handlist description: Folding bedstead

Card/Transcription No.: 586-2

586.

Although somewhat lower than usual the shape of this bedstead is similar to the others, but is has four hinged-joints by which the three parts or sections, of the framework fold upon each other. It also has eight legs, four of which are for the express purpose of taking the strain off the hinged-joint, and the foremost pair of these auxiliary legs are hinged to the hinged-joint they support, so that they may be folded inwards and thus be clear of the framework when the bedstead is folded. (See Notes). ------ Stretched across the frame from end to end a closely woven linen string web painted white, as per wood-work.
