589, A. BASKET (OF BOTTLE OR ARYBALLOS-SHAPE)
(See Nos. 364, 451)

POSITION: South end of chamber with a round basket (see 589) - (see photo 1150).

DIMENSIONS: DIAM. at base 19.0; H. 26.0, cents.

CONTENTS: Empty (probably grapes).

DESCRIPTION: - A basket of aryballos bottle form, with lip, neck, shoulder and conic belly with flat bottom. The technique is similar in every way to No. 357. The ornament represents a series of <> which suggests the supports to a vineyard.

There were three of this class (Nos. 364, 451) two of which contained grapes.
