620-95 BOX (of wood in shape of cartouche). See No. 367, K.

A small toilet box, in the form of a cartouche, carved and hollowed out of a solid piece of hard red-brown wood (? cedar).

L. 12.0; W. 5.4; H. (including lid) 3.2; cents.

The lid, of separate piece of similar wood, is made to represent the prenomen (Neb-khepru-Re) of Tut-ankh-Amen, the cartouche and hieroglyphics being deeply engraved and filled in with blue pigment (now discoloured).

Upon the rounded end of box and lid, a small stained (red) ivory knob for fastening and sealing the lid to the box.

On both ends of the under surface of the lid, the usual wooden battens (pegged to lid) for holding the lid in place and fit into the opening of the box.
