620 Pottery Vessels - Coatings on

(a) Thick layer of grey material coating the outside of a shallow red pottery dish, probably used as cover of jar. The grey coating is gypsum.

(b) Thin white coating on the outside of a red pottery jar. This consists essentially of carbonate of lime.
