50 (cont.) Hinged Wooden Box
3. Cont. On back side of box two ebony 'dads', whole height of box. One of the two
Tutankhamen cartouches on each.
Lid worked on three metal hinges.
Inside painted white.
4. Contents. Filled to the brim with loosely folded cloths. These continued rather more than
half way down. They consisted of shirts, shawls, loin cloths, archer's outfit etc.
Below to bottom of box, a collection of sticks, arrows, mace etc.
The cloths were piled in fairly carefully, but the sticks below had obviously been disturbed by
plunderers. On couch near box there were other sticks and arrows and bows. These probably
came from this box, for unlikely to find arrows without bows. Possibly the cloth came
originally from another box, put in here after plundering by priests.

5. Remarks Ebony strips, knobs & red painted lattice sponged with damp sponge.
Refastened loose metal shoes to legs with casein adhesive.
