Handlist description: Four pieces of open-work plate gold, with designs in granules

(1) Note on colour of the gold. The basis of the panel, back and front was of the peculiar scarlet tint noted before. The granules, wires and other small applied details are yellow. The difference in colour, however, was not due to the application of heat, for in the applied piece of background referred to above in centre panel, the basis was yellow, and the applied plant design red. Still doubtful whether colour due to two qualities of gold being used, one of which took the discoloration, and the other not.
