L. 99.2 Wood a hard dark reddy brown with knots. Diam. 1.8 at top, 2.2 at bottom.

A. Plain gilt, without decoration or inscription. B. Natural surface of wood. C. Traces of gesso, showing that there had been a gilt ferule.

At 1.5 from bottom of A, on one side of the stick, a band of inscription 5.5 x 1.2 The hieros were incised, filled with gesso and gilt. <>

Washed with damp sponge. Cleaned gold with ammonia & afterwards with water
