POSITION: Neck: left of throat; nearly reaching clavicle; suspended by gold (beaten) wire. Second amulet R. side of group 4a, zzz, yyy, xxx, and 4b.

DIMENSIONS: L. 4.5 cents. L. of wire suspension 60 cents. (diam. of ring 18 cents.)

DESCRIPTION: Serpent-head-amulet of red chalcedony with collar and eyelet of gold for suspension. Eyes inlaid with gold and quartz (carnelian coloured) (see drawing with 256 4a)

REMARKS: cf. Lacau, Sarcophages, pl. XXXIV, 82, coffin 28087 (69). Coloured red; inscribed: <> 'Mnkbt at his neck'.
