283, B. THE HAWK STANDARD OF ARABIA

Max: H. (including pedestal) 65.5; pedestal; 38.5 x 14.9 x 5.8, cms. Covered with a piece of linen tied at throat. The <> Hawk upon standard; made of wood, gesso-gilt, with eyes and facial markings inlaid, the flagellum on back, of bronze covered with gold. The pedestal varnished with black resin and inscribed with yellow paint: <> The hawk wears a collarette with MANKHET at back.
